 Vertical Jump Training

Vertical JumpI have been playing basketball since I was a little kid. I was one of the lucky ones to have what my Mom called "a growth spurt" when I was 15, and I outgrew three pairs of pants in one summer only, which was cool since I like basketball so much.  My Mom didn't think much of it, though.

So, here I am at 6'6" and I had a maximum vertical jump of 32"! See, but I knew that there's guys who can do a vertical jump much higher than I could, and they were shorter. Over and over again, I talked with them asking them how they did it.

Mostly I got a lot of garbage. One guy talked about being an angel and having these little wings coming out of his ankles that made his vertical jump higher than any of the other guys.

He tells me this in a quiet whisper that told me that he really believed this stuff. I must have looked like I was not believing him because he kept saying "honest" all the time. I finally figured out that not only was he kind of wacko, but also he was actually one of those natural jumpers. Once I figured that out, I got away from this dude.

Then I met this trainer, a basketball trainer. He and I went out for a coke one day, and I got him talking about how he trained his guys to be able to make their vertical jump much higher. I'll tell you, I would have thought I was drinking something else other than a coke when he started explaining it all to me. I got so confused listening to him that I swear he made me dizzy with it.

He talked at me for the longest time about things like concentric phases, and eccentric phases. It was real obvious that he was very excited about what he was telling me because he talked faster and faster all the time. Then he went off about transferring energy, as if he was talking about being some kind of power station, and had to send this power across town.

Now, don't get me wrong, some of what he was talking about made sense, and was not really bogus. For instance, he mentioned something that made a lot of sense to me about overtraining, and training incorrectly. That's something that I always suspected I had done, and in fact I had actually lost some of the height in my vertical leaps. Now that part made sense.

Then he went on to tell me about fast switches and slow switches, and that really lost me. Most of the time it sounded like some of the stuff my Doc. talks about, and it sure did not make any sense. After all, it was hard for me to understand that my own body had switches in it.

Went to talk with another friend who has this really good vertical jump to see what his secret was all about. I must say that what he shared with me, made a lot of sense, and it was very easy to understand, but it was definitely not for me.

See, he told me that his secret was that he'd been taking ballet classes since he was a little kid, and that the ballet exercises he did for performing high leaps in ballet were exactly the same as making high leaps in basketball. Told me how they taught him how to perform body lifts that were amazing and how he'd managed to make his leaps look totally amazing after the years of practice. I'll tell you I was listening pretty carefully up until he mentioned some of the dancing he'd done in "Swan Lake."

So, then I took to the computer to see what was out there. Found a lot of really bogus programs that cost so much money I'd be working for a whole year to pay it off, so those were out right away, and besides no matter how much I read about them, they just did not hit me right, if you know what I mean?

Then, I tripped over something called the JumpManual. I listened to everything the dude had to say on the Web, and even read up on everything he'd written in the site. That's when I decided that he not only knew what he was talking about, but he was talking to me! I checked to see if I could afford to buy this cool vertical jump manual, and it was not going to break my bank at all. It was gonna work for me! So, I ordered it.

When I read what was in the manual, after downloading it, it was all so clear, that I had no problem understanding what it was saying. I knew that my vertical jumps were about to get better, and I understood about what I'd been doing wrong. I had been a dedicated exerciser for a long time, but they never seemed to help, and this program explained to me why. The program was slow enough for my brain to understand it, and I knew that I could even email the dude that wrote it if I had any questions, so that gave me the confidence to go through with it.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not going to tell you how easy it was to add 10" to my vertical jump, because it was not easy. I had to really work at it, and I even changed how I ate, and what I ate. This manual tells you everything you need to do. I had wasted so much time with programs that don't work. Like, I had done stair running and ankle weights, for years, and it never really helped me.

I knew that all the hype of the other programs were just so bogus, but, after only two months, I actually started to see results. I finally understood strength plus quickness for getting explosion on my vertical jump.  It took a lot of work, but I finally did add 10" to my jumps!
